Police Department

Chief Joseph Jackson
Being sworn in by
Mayor Magazzu

As my first letter to the Township, let me start by saying that I am extremely excited about my new position as the Berlin Township Police Chief. The test process was intense but very worthwhile, as the studying enhanced my knowledge of the policing currently in effect in this Town, Country, and State.

I would like to thank the Mayor and Council for giving me this golden opportunity to take over the Police Department and progress it into one of the premier Police Departments in Camden County and the State of New Jersey.

I will take advantage of every opportinity to apply for and receive grants for equipment, manpower and special details and/ or patrols.

I have an "open door" policy, where anyone can call me, email me or just stop in. I will be readily available to help with anyone's concerns.

The Berlin Township Police Department is a group of men and women committed to police excellence.

Please contact me or anyone of the Officers by phone or email, and we will get back to your concerns in an expeditious manner.

Remember that we, the Police Department, cannot undertake this mission on our own, we need your help. If you see something or hear something concerning a crime or any other Police matter, please reach out to us.

Sincerely,

Joseph M. Jackson
Chief of Police
Berlin Twp. Police Department

Latest Police Department Updates
Drunk Driving kills 18,000 Americans every year. This August the Berlin Township Police will participate in the “Over the Limit. Under Arrest” program sponsored by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety. This program highlights the problem of drunk driving and offers local police departments special funding for additional enforcement. Help keep our highways safe by reporting suspected drunk drivers. Please, don’t drink and drive.
